June 9, Friday after Pentecost

Trinity_2 Today we meditate upon the words of Saint Paul and Saint Ambrose about holiness in the Trinity.

As Saint Paul tells us, the Father has chosen us for holiness through the Spirit so that we might one day possess the glory of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  We do this by remaining in the truths that have been revealed to us, by remaining in the power of the Spirit who is the source of holiness.  The end of the Easter season does not mean the end of our journey of Theosis, each day continues to be another step along the path toward union with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

What is Theosis?

  • Let us become like Christ, since he became like us. Let us become gods for his sake, since for our sakes he became human. He took upon himself the worst, so that he might give us the best. He became poor that we, through his poverty, might become rich. He became a slave so that we might regain our freedom. He descended so that we might be exalted. He was tempted so that we might be victorious. He was shamed so that he might glorify us. He died so that he might save us.
