What are they up to now?

It's in times like this that we may wonder what our government is doing and why.  GovTrack offers up to date information about current issues and events in the US Congress.  You can research bills, track legislation or what your Senator or Congressperson is doing and use any material on the site freely in your own work.  As the site notes, open access to information is necessary in a democracy so here's to the opportunity to avail ourselves of it.

African National Congress

The African National Congress website includes a good deal of information about the organization that played such a major role in the end of Apartheid and faced a good deal of opposition due to their connection with communism during the Cold War.  Still, whether you support them or disagree with them, you can't ignore them and their historical importance.

What did the Congress know and when did they know it?

"American taxpayers spend nearly $100 million a year to fund the Congressional Research Service, a 'think tank' that provides reports to members of Congress on a variety of topics relevant to current political events. Yet, these reports are not made available to the public in a way that they can be easily obtained. A project of the Center for Democracy & Technology through the cooperation of several organizations and collectors of CRS Reports, Open CRS provides citizens access to CRS Reports already in the public domain and encourages Congress to provide public access to all CRS Reports."

Some recent papers have dealt with Native Americans and issues involving Stem Cells.
