Catholic Jukebox

CCAN Catholic Jukebox is a gathering place for Contemporary Catholic musicians.  You can listen to songs by many different musicians and if you are a Catholic musician there are resource for promotion, venues, recording, radio and more.

You can also listen to Catholic radio over the Internet.  All in all, the site is designed to help make more people aware of the great music available from Catholic artists.

The History of American Music and Dance

"I Hear America Singing" is a Library of Congress site dedicated to the history of American composing, music and dance.  The site offers access to the vast audio, printed and photographic resources of the LOC including patriotic songs, the work of Sousa, Civil War sheet music, materials on jazz, and much much more.

The joys of chant

The Gregorian Chant Home Page offers many resources and links devoted to the study of Gregorian Chant and Medieval Music gathered by the folks at Princeton.  In addition to materials on the proper singing of Gregorian Chant and musical theory, the site also offers a look at the materials that Princeton uses for the study of chant.

The art of sound

Crossfader is an Online community for the global electronic artist designed to provide resources for education, recording, perfoming, promoting and more.  It offers everything you need to know to get started in the field of electronic music from laying down the tracks to selling your work.

Striking a chord

Chordbook - is designed for guitar players seeking to expand their musical knowledge.  The site offers a fully interactive web guitar allowing you to hear chords as well as see finger positions, alternative positions and scales.  You can also tune your guitar to alternative tunings using the site's electronic tuner.  You can even record your chord progressions and play them back later.

The Caribbean Connection

Caribbean music has tremendously influenced the American music scene with such artists as Gloria Estefan and Wyclef and Caribbeat offers a good deal of information about Caribbean music and the music scene - from reggae to zouk and soca, from merengue to dancehall and and salsa.  You can get news, information about musicians, links, and even a streaming radio connection to listen to Caribbean music directly from your computer.

There are a multitude of great musicians out there making a lot of great music but never get the airplay on mainstream media.  That's where Garageband.com comes in.  It offers independent artists an opportunity to get their music out.

Garageband is great for both musicians and for those who love to hear music.  Musicians can upload songs to the site for others to listen, review, and recommend.  Those of us who are always looking for good music can find all sorts of music in all sorts of genres, save it on our own playlists, or even download it for personal enjoyment.  You can even use the music in your own podcasts, provided that Garageband.com hosts them.
