Analytical Sciences Digital Library

The ASDL is for anyone who is interested in or has need of analytical measurements.  The materials contained on the site are all peer-reviewed and open for educational use by anyone.  The site offers information on e-courseware, e-labware, e-educational practices and e-research information for undergraduates.  The site is sponsored by the National Science Foundation.

The History of American Music and Dance

"I Hear America Singing" is a Library of Congress site dedicated to the history of American composing, music and dance.  The site offers access to the vast audio, printed and photographic resources of the LOC including patriotic songs, the work of Sousa, Civil War sheet music, materials on jazz, and much much more.

Gods and Goddesses

The Encyclopedia Mythica is an online encyclopedia about the mythology of cultures around the world.  The encyclopdia has over six thousand entries, many contributed by experts in their field - new articles are continually added.  The Encyclopedia can be searched by the name of a particular deity and by the geography of a particular culture.  The site also offers information on mythical heroes, beasts and folktales.

English Paleography and Handwriting

The National Archives of Britain offers an online tutorial in the study of English writing between 1500 and 1800.  This is a valuable research for anyone studying historical documents or the history of the English language.

Evaluating trade agreements, media and culture

Media Trade Monitor is a "resource pool for information about the impact of global, regional, and bilateral trade agreements on media, culture, and communication. It is meant to help place media, culture, and communication squarely on the agenda of the global justice movement, and to help activists and progressive policymakers successfully fight to keep these sectors out of so-called ‘free trade’ deals, be they global (WTO), regional (FTAA, CAFTA), or bilateral."

It contains trade related news and media information, notices on conferences regarding trade and the media and information on cultural interaction and diversity.  The site also offers an XML feed.

ResearchBuzz!

ResearchBuzz is a blog/newsletter offering information about research sites and tools on the Web.  The site offers a large amount of information easily accessible both through its category and site search engine.  You can also keep up to date through subscription to its weekly newsletter or through RSS feed.

Computer survey tools

The Balch Internet Research and Analysis Toolkit is a collection of free tools for conducting and analyzing surveys on the web.  The tools are compatible with Excel and SPSS.  The code is open sources as well so that it can be modified to serve particular needs.

Academic and Scholar Search Engines and Sources

This is a .pdf file compiled by Marcus P. Zillman, an expert in Internet resources.  The document contains thirty-two pages of information for scholars and academics for finding resources on the web.

CSA Illumina Web Directory

The CSA Illumina web directory allows easy access of more than 100 full text and bibliographic databases on a variety of subjects published by CSA and its partners.  Trial registration is permitted but unlimited access is fee based.  As with all web directories, links are categorized according to subject - Arts and Humanities, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and Technology.

Law Dictionary

Law.com offers a Law Dictionary which allows searches to find the definition of a particular legal term or all the definitions that might include a particular term.  You can also look for definitions alphabetically.
