Catholic Classes - Liturgy of the Hours

Website Description:

“From ancient times the Church has had the custom of celebrating each day the liturgy of the hours. In this way the Church fulfills the Lord’s precept to pray without ceasing, at once offering praise to God the Father and interceding for the salvation of the world. For this expressed purpose, the recordings of the Hours presented here are intended to expand awareness of this Liturgy, introduce and practice the structure of this prayer, and to assist in the recitation of the Liturgy in small groups, domestic prayer and where common celebration is not possible.

Antiochene Syriac Maronite Church

Website Description:

This is a daily reading of the Prayers of the Faithful or Divine Office for the Antiochene Syriac Maronite Church.

The Universal Catholic Church is a communion of autonomous ritual Churches. Each Church is unique and contributes in her way to the richness and diversity of the Universal Catholic Church.  Although united in the Holy Spirit by the same faith and the same seven mysteries, each Church witnesses to Christ throughout history according to her theology and spirituality using her own culture, language, music, philosophy etc.

The Universal Catholic Church recognizes that the mystery of God is so vast that it cannot be contained in one individual Church's culture. In fact Pope John Paul II referred to Eastern Churches as the other lung of the universal Catholic Church.

The Maronite Church is rich in her theology, spirituality, culture and traditions. We hope that by providing this forum for you to both listen and participate in the Maronite Church's unique daily prayer life that you may find yourself closer to God and through his blessings may experience a better understanding of and foster a stronger love for the Maronite Church.

Meditations from Carmel

Website Description:

The Meditations from Carmel podcast is brought to you from the Order of Carmel Discalced Secular at the Carmel of St. Joseph in St. Louis, Missouri.

As Carmelites living in the world, we listen to hear the whisper of God in the silence of our hearts.  We seek Him, who we know loves us, and contemplate His wonders.  Carmel is a garden which draws us in to experience the wealth of beauty and delight promised to us out of love and mercy by our Eternal Father.  Our spirituality is inspired by  the prophet St. Elija and modeled on the humility and love of our holy mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The short meditations in this podcast come directly from the treasury of writings of  the great Carmelite Saints including St. Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross, St. Therese of Lisieux, Blessed Elizabeth of the Trinity, St. Teresa of the Andes, Brother Lawrence of the Resurrection, St. Teresa Benedicta and many more.
